My Testimony

As believers in Christ, we often times get the misunderstanding that living this life is going to be problem-free and we couldn’t be more wrong. We will go thru trials and tribulations, you may lose your job, some people have to deal with addiction, even be diagnosed with cancer, however we all must go thru something.

Sometimes we turn back to the sin God brought us out of because of what we go thru but we must remember we can grow through it. Be encouraged to never give up on God. I personally, gave up on God, I said I was tired of being in the same situation, I was tired of going thru. When I did this, I let Satan get ahold of me without even realizing it.

It started internally, my attitude started to change and I turned selfish, I got caught up in gossip at work and within a couple months I got into illegal business at my job, then feeling depressed I started smoking heavily, shortly after I started seeing a man who made it clear of his hatred for Jesus & it didnt bother me, then shortly after that I started seeing women. Before I knew it, I was heading down a dark and destructive path not realizing how far I drifted away from God. Now through all of it, I knew I was living wrong but I let this happen telling myself I had control of my flesh. I kept telling myself “I’ll only try it this once”, “just one more time”, “I have it under control”.

The enemy has a way of trapping us and tricking us in many way that if we are not careful, not watchful in the Spirit, we will get caught up in mess we couldnt imagine.

1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking who he may devour:”

We do not have control over our flesh without Jesus. The more we please our flesh, the more it wants because it feels good, doesnt it? We are born sinners, its in our nature to sin.

Psalms 51:5 “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.”

It is imperative that we wake up and choose to live for Christ and not self and that we turn away from temptation because it only leads to more temptation. We cant tell ourseves that “we got it” or “this one time wont hurt”, it will hurt, lets stop using excuses to stay in our sin becuase next thing you know, like myself, satan is throwing one thing after another after another. So how hard is it to come back to God now just becuase we want to please our flesh. satan knows which of these things we loved the most, that sin that we were sold out for, so what people to send to distract us, he knows how to make it look real good to us, make you miss it, use your family, your friends, but dont give in. You never know what its going to cost you.

We know according to John 10:10 the goal of the enemy is to steal, to kill, and to destroy us. He doesnt want us to turn to God, he wants to keep us in our sin at any means necessary.

Something else I have to share, I almost lost my life due to my disobedience to God and turning back to the very thing I asked God to deliver me from (smoking) with a particular person he told me to block out my life. So this thursday night, the day before I was going to talk on living in the Spirit at bible study, the Holy Spirit kept telling me to stay home with my son but I chose to ignore His voice and every last sign He showed me. I thought “This is the last time God, foreal” I smoked some weed, & it was laced, with what? I have no idea. As I was driving home, I had my first encounter with the devil and he told me that I was going to die on that night and that this was his moment for him to take my life, then my son’s life. Rewind, on my way to do my dirt, I prayed and asked God for traveling grace however, I was only thinking in the physical. “Lord dont let me get pulled over, I dont have my DL, dont let me get a ticket, dont let me get the car towed” and little did I know, my life and my soul was at stake. I’m saying this to say that we never know what God is keeping us from, we dont know the assignments of the enemy, we dont know what in the spiritual realm God is blocking!

Thank God for mercy and grace! This put me in a position to see that if God lets me go, if he takes his hand off of my life anything can happen to me. satan doesnt want us to come back to God, which is exactly where I was in my life, trying to come back. Stay in Gods arms. Sin will cost you your life and your soul.

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Im reminded of Job, the enemy did everything he could get Job to turn away from God & curse Him. But still after losing everything, he never gave up God, he was faithful and the bible says he never sinned. God restored him, and returned everything he had lost plus more. Sometimes what you are going thru is just a test of your faith. Remember this when you feel like giving up or being tempted. Don’t give Satan the victory anymore. 1 Corinthians 10:13 “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”

2 Corinthians 4:8-9 “8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;” Be encouraged, remember your battles are spiritual and they are not yours to fight but the Lord’s.

1 Peter 6-7 “6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of

God, that he may exalt you in due time:

7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”

1 Peter 9-10 “9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, nowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethern that are in the world.

10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.”

James 4:7 “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Psalms 37:5 ” COmmit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” Amen.
