The Power of the Holy Spirit

God bless you, thank you for taking the time out to share in the word of God with us. We praise God for all the emails, subscriptions, and those who share their spirit filled interpretation of God’s word. Tonight we will look at, ”The Power of the Holy Spirit.” as a reference we will gather our points from the 1st chapter of The Book of Acts.” Jesus the great example of Gods word…

The Book of Acts 1:8 (KJV)

“8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.”

Gods word can never be based on assumption it is the foundation of the mind of God sent to reveal to his will to his people through his spirit which searches the deep things of God.

We will define two words;

  • Holy
  • Spirit

Holy by definition…> holier; holiest. 1 : exalted or worthy of complete devotion as one perfect in goodness and righteousness. 2 : divine. for the Lord our God is holy.

Spirit by Definition…> A spirit is a supernatural being, often, but not exclusively, a non-physical entity; such as a ghost, fairy, or angel.[1] The concepts of a person’s spirit and soul, often also overlap, as both are either contrasted with or given ontological priority over the body and both are believed to survive bodily death in some religions,[2] and “spirit” can also have the sense of “ghost“, i.e. a manifestation of the spirit of a deceased person. In English Bibles, “the Spirit” (with a capital “S”), specifically denotes the Holy Spirit.

Thus spirit is a person and does not denote an it.

These are the Points from Acts 1:8

Acts 1:8 King James Version (KJV)

8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Point 1 There is the promise of power

relating to the spirit or soul and not to physical nature or matter; intangible of, relating to, or characteristic of sacred things, the Church, religion, etc. Having the eternal word revealed beyond human understanding and reason. Moving in a spiritual direction blind, led by the Holy Spirit.

Point 2 The Power of the Holy Spirit leads to becoming a spiritual witness to the things of the kingdom of God, revealed by the Holy Spirit making the witness and Epistle in the image of Gods word.

2 Corinthians 3:1-6

Point 3 The power of the Holy Spirit is Past, Present, and future.

Jesus the spirit of God John 14:26 was the Rock that followed Israel in the wilderness as they were baptized in the sea.

1 Corinthians 10:4

He was the living rock that they drank from – the witness of the past, Jesus.

He was the Rock that came rolling down through Babylon, Jesus.

Daniel 2:45

He is the Rock of ages the witness to the world through the preaching of the gospel message.

Jesus tells Peter flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but it was the one who sent me. Peter upon the past, past, and future, the many infallible proves I will build my church. Upon this rock I will build my church.

Matthew 16:13-20

The nature of a Rock

In Closing, the word “rock” is equated with the idea of strength. Rock was used to build walls, fortresses, and towers in Bible times. God is our source of strength in times of distress and danger.

God is also our refuge. Like Moses, we can hide in the cleft of “the Rock.” God will care for us.

“Rock” also typifies something about the nature of God. He is solid as a rock. He is unchangeable in nature — immutable. Moses had this in mind when he spoke of God’s ways and justice (Deut. 32:4).

The “rock” symbolism continues in the New Testament with reference to Christ. He is the foundation, the chief-corner stone. He is the rock of offense to those who reject Him, but the spiritual rock for those who obey Him (Eph. 2:20; Rom. 9:33; 1 Pet. 2:8; 1 Cor. 10:4).

1 John 4 King James Version (KJV)

4 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
