You can only overcome what you have understanding of

Satan is the father of lies and manipulation – it actually blows me away to watch individuals cover Satan’s deception – why do people go left instead of right, they have something to gain, this premise is the reason man don’t fear God! “You can only overcome what you have understanding of”

For a long time my emotions an feelings were wrapped around individuals and not the word of God – Jesus was compassionate but he still was the authority of God.

I want to build this blog from the text found in Luke 16:8 NIV

God uses His word as a plume-line for the believers gage their lives specifically on the word of God –

A plumb line, also called a plummet, is a cord with a non-magnetic weight attached to one end. When the cord is held in such a way that the weight can dangle freely, an exact vertical can be determined. Painters and carpenters use plumb lines to keep their work straight. It is difficult, while in the middle of a project, to determine a true horizontal or vertical line without an objective measuring tool, so a plumb line is employed.

A plumb line applies the law of gravity to find right angles, to indicate the most direct route from top to bottom, and to keep things plumb. A plumb line doesn’t change or move with the whims of the carpenter. It remains true, and all work must line up with it or risk being crooked.

The term plumb line is used in Scripture in several contexts. The Lord pictures Himself as a builder in Isaiah 28, “I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation” (Isaiah 28:16). This is a promise of an unshakeable kingdom, with the Messiah in charge. Jesus Christ is the “precious cornerstone” (Mark 12:10; Acts 4:11; Romans 9:33; 1 Peter 2:6).

As the Lord builds His kingdom, He will ensure it is perfect in every way: “I will make justice the measuring line and righteousness the plumb line” (Isaiah 28:17). There will be no crookedness/sin in the kingdom of Christ. God’s word is that straight line between two points – everything about satan is as crooked as his lies –

Do you ever get sick and tired of being attacked by the devil? In your Christian walk, does it ever seem like you take one step forward and two steps back?

If you said “yes” to any of the above, then I have good news for you: Your life does not have to continue on this way! The Bible gives us a plan of action to overcome the devil and his tactics. First, however, you need to be able to identify his strategy.

The devil’s two-fold strategy

The devil first tries to bring us down by trapping us in his manipulation . If he is successful, he then attempts his accusation. The Bible actually refers to him as “the accuser of the brethren” (Revelation 12:10). Satan does not just lead a Christian into lies and leave him or her to suffer the consequences. He wants the disobedient Christian to be doubly defeated.

Consider this account in Zechariah: “Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the Angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to oppose him. And the LORD said to Satan, ‘The LORD rebuke you, Satan! The LORD who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?’” (Zechariah 3:1–2).

The setting is that of a courtroom: God is the judge. Joshua the high priest is the defendant. Satan is the prosecutor trying to prove Joshua’s guilt.

Satan still uses this tactic with great effect. When you and I have disobeyed God, he moves in for that finishing stroke. He accuses you: “You call yourself a Christian?” “Do you really think that God will hear your prayer?” “You’re not worthy to approach God after what you’ve done.”

Before we fall into his trap, while he is tempting us, the devil whispers, “You can get away with this.” After we fall, he shouts, “You will never get away with this!”

Does this mean that every time we feel a sense of guilt or shame, it comes from the devil? Of course not. We simply must learn to distinguish between Satan’s accusations and the Holy Spirit’s conviction. If those feelings drive us to despair and hopelessness, then we’ve listened to the wrong voice.

The difference between conviction and accusation

When the Spirit of God convicts you:

He uses the Word of God in love. He seeks to bring you back into fellowship with your heavenly Father.

He gets you to focus upon God and His forgiveness. He draws you to the cross of Christ.

He leads you to repentance.

He moves you closer to the Lord.

When Satan accuses you:

He uses your own fall in a hateful way.

He seeks to make you feel helpless and hopeless.

He gets you to focus your attention upon yourself and your sins.

He drives you away from the cross of Christ.

He wants you to experience regret and remorse, but not repentance.

He moves you farther and farther away from the Lord.

True conviction from the Spirit will move you closer to the Lord.

Remember satan is A liar and a deceiver – these are the methods that he will you to entrap you -

In Closing, Judas listened to the devil and went out and hanged himself in complete despair. Peter looked in the face of Jesus and wept bitterly, but later came back into fellowship with Christ. Don’t let anything keep you from coming to the cross and repenting of your sin and experiencing the wonderful, cleansing work of forgiveness in your life!

Learn to hate the spirit of Satan, you will go the opposite direction – How can two walk together except they agree? Jesus also hates his spirit – go with me to Proverbs 6;16 KJV

16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

Abomination …> “anything abominable; anything greatly disliked or abhorred. intense aversion or loathing; detestation: He regarded lying with abomination. a vile, shameful, or detestable action, condition, habit, etc.

17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.”
