Failure is not and option

The old saying goes, ”winners never quit and quitters never win.” Here’s the reality, most people give up or quit right before something amazing happens. The difference between winning and losing is never quitting. Losers quit when they’re tired, winners quit when they’ve won. Clearly, quitting is the not your best move. The failure rate of anything and everything seems to be higher than the success rate. It comes down to one thing: Those who make it just never quit, and those who don’t quit too soon. Quitting is the easiest way to give up. Some give up because of pain, some of the stress of winning takes too much effect, and some just have not developed a winners attitude.

What if Thomas Edison gave up on his attempt to improve the light bulb? What if Michael Jordan quit when he got cut from his high school basketball team? What if Martin Luther King quit on his march for freedom when things got a little scary? Where would we be as a society if the leaders from our pasts quit on the greatness they pursued in their lives that have changed and affected so many lives thereafter?

I love the fact that everything relative to life can be found in the word of God. Paul the Apostle gives the best example of not quitting.

Paul uses the example of a race. A runner giving his/her everything to cross the victory line. Not just to finish the race, but to finish the race in the victory. Winners lay it all on the line. No matter what, why, where, when or how the central thought is the prize. (Let’s look at his example and extract the points from the bible.)

The Apostle Paul in Philippians 3:13-14 writes

”13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Point 1. First I cannot claim victory before the race is over. ”I count not myself to have apprehended.” This mindset produces point 2.

Point 2. When there are many distractions, things in the way it will cause one to quit. The goal or the purpose has the be the one element of focus. ”but this one thing that I do.” within himself he only saw the race in which he was chosen to run.

Point 3. We must forget all our past mistakes, our failures, all the pain and move past everything that will try to stop us from reaching the goal or purpose that is set before us. ”forgetting those things which are behind.”

Yes, it will be difficult yes it will be a challenge but the reward is greater than the sacrifice.

Point 4. We must at all times see the victory line before we get there. Obstacles and issues are a part of the race. Nothing matters focus on the finish line, see yourself completing the race, see yourself in the victory circle and know that you will win. ”and reaching forth unto those things which are before.”

Point 5. In order to win this race and not win, we must know what the reward to be obtained. When you know what is at stake you will give your all. ”I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

In closing, we were not born to quit we were born to win. We must take to heart and never forget, ”winners never quit and quitters never win.” No one will ever be mad at you for giving you your all. ”Nothing beats a fail but a try.”
