Colossians 3 reminds us that we have been raised with Christ so we should set our hearts on things above. We died with Christ to the things of this world. We are instructed to put them aside along with our old self. And in its place, to put on our new self, which is being renewed in the knowledge and image of our Creator. Paul then gives practical ways in how to live this out as well as instructions for family life. “It’s up to you, there is a reward either choice.”
Colossians chapter 3
1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
The condition is found in verse 1
2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God – “Only Dead people can see the truth!”
4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
If you desire to meet the condition below is what you must do, otherwise you are not risen with Christ! 👇🏾🔥🔥🔥
5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
6 For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
Those who have met the condition….👇🏾🔥🔥
8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
Those who met the condition are now born in the image of Christ!
10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.
The reward for both are death – physically and spiritually –
For those renewed in the image of the created, death is the gateway to life eternal –
For those who have not been renewed through the new birth, death is a gateway to hell eternal damnation!
