Inconsistency kills intimacy

Written by,

When we allow the craziness or laziness of the world into our lives, we often find ourselves asking, “Why am I not as close to God as I want to be?” When we sacrifice consistency in our relationship with God, we not only begin to miss God, we begin to miss the work He is doing on our behalf. “Inconsistency kills intimacy.”

The apostle Paul reminds us that even “If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot disown Himself” (2 Timothy 2:13). God is always working in our lives, but if we don’t spend time tuning our hearts to His voice, we will miss when He speaks. Want to grow closer to God? Be consistent.

Satan is looking for those not in a consistent relationship with God’s word, why – where there is no consistency there is no true love –

Watch The Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians chapter 7

“2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.

4 The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.

5 Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

Look at verse 5 – it says where there is not consistent intimacy – which is not sex, it opens the door for Satan –

Consistency Brings Us Close

Jesus said, “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me” (John 15:4).

To abide is to endure without yielding, to continue in a place, to remain stable. Abiding is simply spending time together, day in and day out. What many us of do instead is pop in for a quick chat with God when it’s convenient then disappear for weeks.

Consistency is the key to close relationship in our everyday lives and our spiritual lives. Consistency in our time with God starts with simple changes, but those simple changes can make a big impact.

Psalms 91 KJV a lovers prose/song/poem

Just the introduction!

“1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.”

• Find time to be alone. Set aside a time to spend with God every day without distractions.

• Be consistent. If you can watch the same TV show every week, make it to the same job every day, or remember to eat, you’ve got what it takes to be consistent. God wants to spend time with us daily. When you are consistently in God’s Word, you will only grow closer to Jesus!

In Closing, James 4:8 says, “Come near to God and He will come near to you.” Are you as close to God as you want to be? If not, are you consistent in your relationship with Him? Consistency is not found in how much of the Bible you can read or recite, but in the commitment to spend time in God’s Word and in His presence on a regular basis.

God means different things to different people, be consistent in Love with His word!!! Believers are in the image of the one they love – we sound like who we love!

69 Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.

70 But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.

71 And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said unto them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth.

72 And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man.

73 And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee.

True consistent love of God is only seen in the spirit – The Bible says that David loved Johnathan more than any women – they both were men – but they spent consistent time together based on God’s promises to where Jonathan he David.

Is the word of God hidden in your heart?
